Frequently Asked Questions

What type of photo do you need?

A clear, well-lit photograph that shows your pet’s face, colouring and markings is ideal. Natural daylight usually gives the best results. Photos taken at your pet’s eye level are particularly helpful, and you’re welcome to send several photographs after placing your order, so I can choose the best reference.

How good does the photo need to be?

It doesn’t need to be professionally taken, but the clearer the photograph, the more detail I can capture in your portrait. I need to be able to see important features such as the eyes, nose, fur and markings clearly. If you’re unsure whether your photo is suitable, please get in touch before ordering and I’ll be happy to advise.

Can you combine pets from different photos?

Yes. Your pets don’t need to be together in the same photograph. I can work from separate reference photos and bring them together into one portrait. This can be particularly useful when creating a portrait of pets who were never photographed together.

How long does it take?

Each portrait is individually painted by hand, so please allow adequate time for your portrait to be created, plus delivery time. The time taken differs depending on the size of the painting and the number of pets included, the estimated time is stated in each product description.

During particularly busy periods, I’ll let you know if the expected timescale is longer. If you need your portrait by a particular date, please contact me before ordering.

What type of pets do you paint?

All kinds! Dogs and cats may be the most common, but I’m very happy to paint horses, rabbits and other much-loved animals. If you have something a little more unusual in mind, please get in touch - I’d love to hear about them.
